iPhone
2050The last one.

Twenty-six generations of taking things away. This is what was left.

Thesis

A device you notice has already failed.

So we spent forty years building one you don't. Every generation since 2007 has been the same argument — how much of the object can disappear before the thing it does disappears with it. In 2050 we found the floor.

Halo

The screen is not on the phone.

Halo projects a corrected light field into the air above the slab — 8.2 inches when you want it, nothing at all when you don't. It focuses to your eyes and no one else's. The person beside you on the train sees a piece of grey glass on a table. Which is all it ever was.

Matter

Seventy‑eight grams. One crystal. No seams.

The enclosure is a single grown sapphire boule, cut once. Not assembled — finished. No join line, no gasket, no fastener, and nowhere to print a logo. Polished to 0.3 nanometres, then left completely alone.

Lineage

Forty‑three years of subtraction.

The whole story is one long removal — keys, then bezels, then edges, then the screen itself. The bars are the share of the front face taken up by anything that isn't image.

2007iPhone Thirty-eight physical keys replaced by one sheet of glass and one button.
2017iPhone X The button goes. The face becomes the credential.
2026Present day The last generation still built as a stack of separate parts held together.
2034Seamless Projected — enclosure and display grown as one optical body. The last year a port ships.
2042Field Projected — the image leaves the surface. The slab becomes an emitter, not a panel.
2050iPhone 2050 Projected — nothing on the front face at all. The object is finally only an object.

Every figure on this page is invented. Betavoltaic output at this energy density is not achievable with any material known in 2026, and eye-resolved light-field projection at this scale remains unsolved. This sheet describes an intention, not a product.

Reserve

Reserve yours. Delivery 2050.

There is a version of this where the phone gets bigger, brighter, louder, more. It sells fine. This is the other one — the one that ends the argument by walking out of the room.

Nothing is sent anywhere. This page has no server — the button is part of the concept.
